Thank you for a lovely stay at elder Grove this weekend , and for being lovely hosts. We really enjoyed it, and had a very relaxing time. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and our requests were catered for. The honesty bar was a great idea, and the bar and lounge areas relaxing too. Nice touches with toiletries in the bathroom, and tea and coffee, (mugs not cups which we preferred ! ) hot choc and biscuits, in the bedroom. We would stay again !

Many thanks again for my recent stay.  Room was lovely and very comfortable.  Bath was a massive bonus after a day walking.  Breakfast was absolutely stunning.  Love that you use local produce.

Just returned from a lovely pre Christmas stay at the Elder Grove.We really appreciated the festive decorations and the relaxed atmosphere. The bedroom was so comfortable and breakfast was wonderful.

We consider ourselves to be returning visitors and we always feel sad to leave.

I had a lovely stay midweek at Elder Grove whilst on a business trip.Lucy & Matt were very welcoming and hospitable. I had a single room which was very clean and tidy.Breakfast was excellent.Cannot recommend them enough. Will no doubt be back.

We recently stayed at Elder Grove for the first time. It is lovely, tastefully furnished, comfortable and very clean. We chose it because of the location which is perfect for shops, restaurants etc and the starting point of many walks. The car park was a big plus and easy to get in and out of. Lovely breakfast, comfy lounge and bar area. Hopefully we will return soon.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful Elder Grove with us. It was a perfect stay. Your friendliness, warmth and attention to detail could not be faulted. The location could not have been better, an easy walk down to the cafes and shops, and a great starting point for longer hikes in the hills. Rooms were peaceful and lovely, had all the amenities needed – a lovely touch to use beautiful local products. The breakfasts were wholesome and the fruit salad made you want to eat it.☺ The breakfast banter with Matt was fun too. The inviting lounge area for a pre-dinner drink was especially enjoyed as well. We all agree that Ambleside was the “hidden gem” of our holiday- we didn’t quite know what to expect but it was absolutely wonderful.

Just wanting to let you both know, Ian & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you at the weekend, our room was beautifully decorated, the bed was ever so comfy, and we wanted for nothing with everything provided with the lovely toiletries, & great fluffy towels, all provided. Also thank you very much for our amazing, well enjoyed home cooked breakfasts cooked to order on both days.  We are definitely now looking forward to our next stay with you hopefully sometime in the near future.

Thanks for a lovely stay in Elder Grove on Saturday night. Room 4 was just perfect and I loved the decor!  It was spotlessly clean with a beautiful bathroom which had quality products in it. Breakfast was very relaxing with local produce used for hot choices and lovely hand prepared fruit salads and home made muesli. Room was also beautifully decorated to reflect the Lakes.

I would highly recommend staying here.

Another 5* stay at Elder Grove! It’s always welcoming, peaceful and immaculately clean. I appreciate the lovely toiletries and the availability of fresh milk to use in the bedroom. The breakfast is excellent, beautifully cooked . I appreciate the fresh fruit salad in pots. You are both doing a great job. Thankyou.

My boyfriend and I stayed with you this past weekend and had such a lovely time despite being effectively snowed in! The staff we met really made our stay that much more enjoyable. The room was super clean and the food was amazing. Thanks for a superb and cozy stay!

Elder Grove is the perfect B&B — welcoming, comfortable, thoughtful and with a really fantastic breakfast. It’s also very close to all the Ambleside buses and the centre of town.

Stayed at Elder Grove in September 2023 for two weeks. The weather wasn’t great, but Matt and Lucy made it a really enjoyable stay.  The accommodation was excellent and the breakfast was first class.  It was nice to relax in the bar after a walk down to the Lake in the evening. Looking forward to our stay next year at the Elder Grove.

Excellent B & B

We 3 had a fabulous stay for two nights this week . It’s in a great location, in the centre of Ambleside and has good, onsite, safe parking. Complete with perfect, friendly ,warm, welcoming hosts for whom nothing is too much effort . The rooms are spacious and included lovely, fluffy pillows, comfortable beds, good deco and very clean. We enjoyed the best  traditional Cumbrian breakfast , with a choice of a variety of local good quality produce, tasty home made marmalade and muesli. Well catered for people with varying dietary needs. There is an ample choice of teas, coffees,  jam and bread. Good advice given re trips, local walks and places of interest.

Thank you very much Matt and Lucy for  being fantastic hosts and making our stay a wonderful and memorable one. I will certainly recommend this place to my friends  and wider family hope to return in the near future. Please can you kindly order good weather to go with my stay for my next visit.

Matthew & Lucy run a fabulous B & B in Ambleside. We were warmly greeted. Our room was beautifully decorated. The toiletries are top class. The whole guesthouse is outstandingly clean. Breakfast is a treat , all freshly cooked to the guest’s specifications. Matthew is a wealth of knowledge re walks & trips. He’s never put us wrong in any of his suggestions. This was our second time to come from Ireland to stay in Eldergrove & we’re looking forward to staying there again in the future. Top marks to them for running such a wonderful place.

My husband and I stayed at your very nice Bed and Breakfast this past July for 9 nights and we had a wonderful time. Your hospitality was exceptional, we loved your thoughtful and knowledgable advice about places to visit and how to best reach them, we enjoyed the conversation and we very much liked your very generous breakfasts (egg and soldiers was one of my very own new favorites). It is obvious that you care about those details that enhance the comfort of your guests for your place is extremely cozy, clean and cheerful and I will be sure to recommend it to any friends who may be thinking of visiting the Lake District.

In short you are wonderful hosts and you run a very tidy and cosy Bed and Breakfast, I hope our travels will take us to your shores once more!
