Food & Drink
Food and drink – from full English to lighter bites
Elder Grove B & B has a reputation for one of the best full English breakfasts in Ambleside, the Lake District and indeed Cumbria. It is served in our atmospheric green slate dining room, mined from local stone.
The full English breakfast
Served 8.15am – 9.15am. This includes dry cured bacon, hand-made local flavoured black pudding and Cumberland sausage, which arrives to us in the traditional coil. These are supplied by Garside’s butcher of Ambleside. You can have your eggs fried, scrambled or poached. All are guaranteed to be free-range from Bannerigg Farm, Windermere.
Lighter bites
Help yourself to yoghurts, fresh fruit and cereals from our breakfast bar. The fresh bread for your toast comes from Grange Bakery in Grange over Sands. Our milk is from Chad Tremble at Staveley. They buy at a fair price from North Lakes Foods who source their products from Cumbrian farmers.
To complement our soft water, we use hand roasted coffee and hand picked loose leaf teas supplied by John Watt’s in Carlisle. John Watt’s have been roasting coffee and blending teas for over 150 years.
Home-made marmalade
We have a collection of Silver and Bronze accreditations from the annual Dalemain Marmalade Festival.
Lazy breakfast
Do you fancy a lie-in? Just want tea or coffee and some toast later? We serve a lazy breakfast in the bar area from 9.30am until noon.
Sustainable and responsible
To keep food waste to a minimum we prepare and cook all breakfasts to order.
